Unfortunately, that's incorrect. According to my sources, there were nearly 107 million made in Philly in 1971.

Hang onto those war nickels though, the silver content is, well, a bit more than a nickel! :)

(Nickels minted between 1942 and 1945 are worth a little over a dollar at the current spot price of silver.)

    2 boxes of halves today, box #1 - 1 90% and box #2, 1 - 40%

I took a picture of the 90% because it was an ender, but I'm experiencing technical difficulties getting it uploaded.

    2002P---24
    2003D---19
    2003P---30

    2004P---25
    2005D---14

I don't see the importance of any of those halves....???? Looks to me like 3 boxes of someone elses searched coins at their dump bank...????? About typical of what I've been finding lately........

Post 2001 halves were not intended for circulation, they were minted for collectors, as were 1987 coins.

I've gone through many boxes and found a few from 2002 - 2013, but never this many. It is mentioned here because of volume, not necessarily excessive value.
Overwhelming date range is from 1971 to 2001.

I did one box of nickels yesterday - Netted me one barely readable 1920 Buff and a scratched up 1943P War. Better than what I have been averaging lately.

2 more boxes of halves today, it was supposed to be 4, but the banks just can't seem to get it together.

    Box #1 - 1 - 90% (1964 that looks like someone put a blow torch to the back of) and 1 - 40%.
    Box #2 - 3 - 40% (one of which was a 1968 with about a 1/4 inch hole drilled through Kennedy's forehead.)

Looks like today was a day for mutilated silver. I also pulled out a 1979 S and a 1992 S, along with 4 other NFIC, the newest of which was a 2007.
