1989 Lincoln cent DDO (Hair)

    Is this DDO where I have the arrows pointed to?

    if you can
    use a light source. fix your camera position towards the ddo and use full size image and from there we can see the whole coin in a better perspective. make sure it looks clean on the full image!

    it does look like a ddo but again it might be the light exposure that makes the hair on the coin "look normal"

    No its not the light source trust me thats why You see pictures in the blue field and yellow.

    ill be honest it can be a offset ddo.. but again its always best to go to a coin dealer, might just been carved out to see if some one can make a profit.. or its a offset ddo..

    I Highly doubt thats carved out.

    I have seen similar "doubling" caused by die abrasion, though on this specimen I am not sure. I would think it may require an in-hand look to determine if it is or is not a doubled die.

    This was a heavily abraded area on cents during the 1980s and we often see abrasion "doubling" behind the head and neck area. As Simon said though, this would have to be examined up close to tell for sure.
