Want to share coin out of my Silver Kennedy PCGS Proof 69 DCAM set. i picked this coin up many years ago thinking it was a 1992 S Sliver Kennedy half for my set. after looking over the coin, i had to buy another 1992 S Silver Kennedy. i don't think this happens to often, also its in an older holder. i'll just use it for my 1994 coin.
Trust me...that wasn't even the first mistake that TPG made that day... Even the mighty PCGS and NGC make mistakes.
That would be expected. The more slabs you grade, the greater the probability of errors. Just like the cent and its mintages, the more you make, the more you break, damage, clip, etc.
I recently sold an 1839 Seated Liberty half dollar that had an insert that stated it was an 1839 Reeded Edge half dollar.
In all fairness, those kind of mistakes are not made by the people identifying and grading the coins. In other words the professional graders have nothing to do with it. They are made by low level employees who do the grunt work of printing & inserting labels.
