Also another question, on grading; I might need to start another thread for this question.... Let me know and I will if needed... I've been really looking reading up on grading, looking at coins that I have bought already graded by NGC and PCGS comparing the grades, trying to learn more and to improve my grading skills... I think I've learned alot about coins themselves as in the finer details that alot of people (non-collecters) would overlook, but the one thing I'm not really sure on is I see a lot of coins that are 63, 64, 65s and up, that look like they have some kinda marks or scars all over... Not sure what to call them... I was showing a friend at work that is getting into coins a few of my graded ones and another guy said, that coin scores that even with those marks all over it... Thats what really got me thinking about it...
Yes, they do. The marks are called bag marks, hits, dings etc. But for the most part bag marks is most commonly used. But exactly where the marks are on the coin, how severe they are, how distracting they are - all of that plays a part. That's part of learning how to grade, knowing which marks count the most and how many of them are permitted for a given grade.
