Didn't sell my entire collection, put a few nicer ones back. This coin was in a fatty holder, getting cracked out and sent to PCGS soon. NGC's grade is MS66. My grade is: Wow!

Why are you cracking it out...MS66 looks about right. It's a beauty.

It is a beautiful coin, nice photo. Why crack it out? What a waste of time, effort and money. Just keep it like it is. And that is about all I am going to say about that.

Tim, just leave it where it's at. It's a beautiful coin and I believe properly graded. For someone who just sold the bulk of their collection to pay off your debt...and was asking for help to buy a car...is getting this coin regraded really a wise use of money?

Tim, I am not familiar with this type of coin. What is the value of this piece?

    $50 in MS63. Dunno about MS66.

    you paid 89$ for it
and thought it was a good price. I would say its value is somewhere between that or a little less and a hundred or so. Not worth reholdering.

You're not going to get a crazy premium in MS66 over MS63, these are expected to be MS, values don't jump with every point or two like they do with normal circulating business strikes. I agree, not worth reholdering.

I agree with the others. There is absolutely no (logical) reason to crack and send that coin to PCGS. But, people like to waste money I guess. Also, seems odd to crack out a coin to send it to a company with a lower reputation and a smaller market share in UK coins.

It's a lovely coin, and looks properly graded at MS66 to me.

I agree, and I don't understand the whole logic of cracking out lower value coins hoping for a grade point advance in reholdering. The only benefactors are the grading companies, not collectors.

Enjoy the coin, it is beautiful.

I agree with what others said - don't take it out of the holder. And why PCGS over NGC?

About the only thing that makes PCGS slabbed coins 'look better', and therefore 'sheeple' to want to reholder into [omg, did I insinuate Tim was a sheeple for wanting to reholder a NGC slabbed coin into a PCGS one?] is that the PCGS ones have 'clear inserts' (i.e., see through holder) instead of white inserts and is thus more aesthetically pleasing to some. Although some think the slab size, being able to put it with other slabs in storing it is a plus, also. And other minor reasons that have nothing to do with the grade of the coin or the real quality of the slab job, such as being the only NGC holdered coin in a collection making it 'look out of place'.

^^ If your collection of similar items all look the same it must be better.

bonus: who can spot the NGC slabbed coin in this picture?

For someone who's always complaining about not having money, the crack/submit game is a really really illogical move. If you are paying 30% or so of the coins value on the re-slab that's just outright silly. We collect coins, right? Not plastic?
