1998 S Silver Matte Proof Kennedy score!

    Correct. They are NOT proofs. They're specially prepared planchets that are MS, and do not meet the proof standards. So, the SP category is "special proof" or "special planchet" or whatever acronym one wishes for a slightly different MS coin. :)

    US mint call the strike Special Matte Finish almost like the Satin Finish on mint set from 2005-2010. :smile

    Exactly. Well said. Jello dude is correct!! :) I forgot to mention that they have a finish similar to the SMS satin coins. :) :) The 1965, 1966 and 1967 coins have a somewhat similar finish (the ones labeled SMS).

    They must be getting cheaper, I just bought one at a coin show for $100. It was dirty, the slab that is so when I got home I cleaned it. I bought a Mint set a while back for over $200 so I already had one, but for $100 I could not refuse it. It is in the older style slab, MS not SP.[​IMG] [​IMG]
