Intro Good morning every one. I am looking too increase my knowledge of this hobby. And thought talking with more experience collectors would be invaluable. I have taken a beating while paying my proverbial dues and have learned some valuable lessons. I look forward too chatting with ya all and hope I can bring some thing too the table as well. (but ya probably should not count on it) But what bring me hare is some Sacagawea's. I was going through a roll of Sacagawea's the other day and came across a roll of what appears too be satin finish. The conundrum is that they are 2004 P. I kinda thought that 2005 was the first of these new finishes. So has any body heard of any 2004 P Sacagawea's with a satin finish? They are nice looking coins and there mint marks are nearly filled and the dates as well.
I opened a roll of Sacagawea's the other day and found them to be a satin type finish. But only on the obverse, the reverse is not. Also these are 2004 P Has any one heard of the mint doing any experimental satin runs on Sacagawea's in 2004? Please limit yourself to one thread per subject
welcome Joe. Sacagaweas are not something I know much about. I'm sure someone here will be able to help you.
Hello. I'm not familiar with a 2004-P Satin finish dollar coin. Here's a link that might be of interest to you. http://home.earthlink.net/~smalldollars/dollar.html
I have been trying too get a good picture today and have not succeeded in getting a good one that shows this almost wrinkle finish on these coins. I am now back into user guide for digital camera going over macro pics. I don't think it is just a weak strike as the reverse has good strong lines. The mint mark is nearly filled and the date specifically the four is nearly filled aswell. I will attach a photo of a earlier attempt and keep trying too get a better photo.
Welcome to the forum Joe!!! I know very little about the Sacs as I'm mostly into pre-1964 coins except for what I have in my sets. Sorry I cant help you.
