When I go on coppercoins.com I see other coins with the same type of doubling. It looks faint: http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1942&die_id=1942p1dr004&die_state=mds http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1941&die_id=1941p1do006&die_state=lds
Those are class IV doubled dies that clearly "add" to the devices. Unfortunately, yours looks like the doubling cuts into the design and "takes away" from it.
no offense but how does that look like it takes away from it? Look at the E & the P also. I dont see anything that looks like it takes away from it.
Because if you take away the doubling and compare it to a normal coin, the letters and design on yours looks thinner. I've seen a bunch of examples like yours before, that have slight and flat doubling in the reverse design. Edit: In fact, I think that the P is the best example that illustrates the flatlike appearance of the doubling, hence my assessment of MD.
