Why did nobody buy my Kennedy

Looking at past auctions, ms66's have brought 300. 66* should have no problem hitting 300. So there are more people than just me who think that.

Sp67 has a pop of 568 with 28 higher. My coin has a pop of 3 with 5 higher. Do understand why you only got 30.00

On what planet? Do you seriously expect to believe that if you really thought a coin was worth $300 you would list it for 6.66% of that price?

I listed it before it was graded. I listed it raw for 20.00 it never sold. i sent it to NGC, cause of their plastic its now worth a lot more

 

I still want to make sure you understand why your coin only brought 30.00. Do you understand how populations work? Do you understand you were selling a fairly common coin? Do you understand your comparison was apples to oranges?

 

Of course I understand. I also understand that in PCGS Plastic, your coin would never make a 66.

PCGS has 131 of them in 66 with 5 higher so your population numbers are also way off.

As far posting a RAW coin asking why it didn't sell and then saying that you had it graded at MS66* and its now worth $300? I'm of the belief now that you don't really care, you just want folks to visit your eBay page.

SEASONED Kennedy Collector's know that your coin is NOT an MS66.

Comparing a graded coin with that same coin outside of its holder is definitely apples to oranges. If I would have bought the coin raw on Ebay for $20, I would have had to pay $30+ to send it in hoping to get very lucky with a grade above 65. In the more likely event that it came back lower, I would have been stuck with a $50 investment in a common coin with less than 2 bucks worth of silver in it. Even though I'm not a gambler I would still get more enjoyment out of taking my $50 to a casino, or at least spending it on something I know is worth $50.

I'm speaking as a collector with a limited budget. When I spend my hard earned money on a coin I want to minimize my risk, and that's why I don't buy raw coins on Ebay, especially considering that the auctions are filled with cheap coins that some other poor sucker has already gone upside down on to get slabbed. You can tell me to buy the coin and not the slab, but the reality is that slabs make a lot of coins not only more valuable, but more liquid. The Kennedy in this thread with less than ideal toning is a prime example.

Well I'm sorry I didn't read all 4 pages to realize you had it graded. Yes I think it's a generous grade but anyway hope you get lots for it.

SEASONED? Us young pups can tell too! Not everyone on these forums voted for or against JFK in 1960, heck I’m too young even to register to vote now but still I can see that NGC gave a gift to the OP. Someone will buy the plastic and not the coin with this one.

 

Its not for sale. I never once listed my store. If I wanted people to go to my store I can list in the for sale section. It was not my intention to draw attention to my store.

 

I agree. That was kind of the point of this thread, but it took a strange turn. I find it odd how many people seem to get upset and went into attack mode.

 

This is certainly an interesting coin. I do agree that MS66 is too generous...I'd probably put it a couple grades lower because it has several significant hits.

That said, it did grade MS66. The last coin to sell on Heritage as a 66 was a year ago when a PCGS MS66 sold for $270.25. Even though this coin has a * grade...I find it hard to believe that it will realize $300 (even though the NGC guide says $300 for a normal 66). I think most collectors willing to drop that kind of money on a Kennedy will scrutinize the coin pretty heavily and conclude it is overgraded. However, it is worth well more than $20.

I think it's a nice coin...but IMHO it is overgraded.
