I often feel a bit silly paying cash at the grocery, instead of using the CC with its 1% (ish) "rewards" program. But I'll still do it most of the time, especially for small purchases. Today, the machine dispensed this gem with my change: I'm not sure I've ever received an impaired proof in my change (although I've gotten proof Kennedy halves at the bank once or twice). I'd be happier with silver, but this was still an interesting find. Much of the discoloration seems to be some sort of deposit; I'll probably try a distilled-water soak at some point. But this thing has definitely seen some circulation -- wonder if I could get it into a lowball slab?
