Been searching for a "perfect" ms65 cc Morgan. I recently came across this one and wanted ya'lls thoughts.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/14122519475...l?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=141225194755&_rdc=1

From what I can tell there is a small nick on her chin (the seller told me) however when viewing it on the computer with the zoom feature it seems to go away. Likewise when viewing in zoom I see scratches on the fields by the nose.

Now I'm still not 100% on her but I thought I'd at least get ya'lls thoughts before bidding. thanks.

Pics are funny in that they can hide some flaws and make some that are barely visible in hand look huge . Still the coin you're looking at looks like it got the CC bump . Meaning it looks more like a high end 64 than a 65 to me . I'd wait for some others to chime in as I know Morgans they're not my specialty . Also looks like a slightly weak strike . IMHO

Thanks rzage. I know most hate these opinion threads but I'm in no hurry so if I post one once a month to get a second opinion I thank you.

If wanting for the "perfect" example, only you can determine what this means to you. However, I would respectfully suggest that if you're going to go all in, you can do better.

Yeah book, I've thought about that in terms of only I know "perfection" it's just nice to get an opinion every now and then. I have plenty of money and time so I'll do better. I double checked the coin real well and there are issues that are masked by the glare of a monitor, I noticed the issues when glancing at it from the side. So yeah, I'll probably pass but I'll watch and see what it sells for.

Looks like a generic white Morgan, but I wonder what the spot between AM in AMERICA will look like in-hand.

I agree with tom. Its a run of the mill 65 Morgan no special anything. If you want a perfect example I would suggest taking a look into a PL coin I say pl because prices get high in dmpl. From the photos it looks as though there are better strikes out there especially in the cc mint. The breast feathers aren't as sharp as they can get if you are looking for perfection. A pl coin usually has superior strike and fields and one with cameo cintrast adds a real nice appealing look. Imho

    FWIW, I think it's a full Gem 65.

I have looked into PL and have enquired about one. I'm just waiting to hear back as I had a question about a streak near her lip. Anyway I was able to notice some issues after viewing my monitor from a side view that make me question this 65.

It is a very nice coin. I would buy it, but I think the price is going to go too high. That is a common date CC, and even in 65, it shouldn't be more than $450-475 max. This will probably be bid over $500. I do NOT question the grade of 65--that is a Morgan CC 65 in every respect. If you go for it, just do not overpay.

I think there is more chatter on the lower chin than the pics are showing. I also think there is more chatter in the left field on the obverse than the picture is showing. If it were me, I'd wait for another coin.

The 84-CC is by far the most common. Is this for a type set? Are you starting a Morgan collection? Or do you just want the finest example of a CC Morgan that fits a certain budget?

    No.

Also, if you look closely you'll notice that that the reverse does not match the CC claimed by the seller or the PCGS label. The reverse and obverse photos are not of the same coin.

Ah, nice observation. The seller is misrepresenting the item. I wonder if they are aware?

Wow, you are correct. Either a goof, or intentional deception.

It's not intentional deception. DLRC simply messed up with the image links. They are a highly reputable company.

I am certain it's nothing more than a simple mix-up that, if made aware, would surely be corrected.

I know; You are absolutely right. I have bought many coins from them, and they're normally extremely accurate, courteous, and professional. Had to be a mix-up, as they have a large inventory.
