well when i was reading the coinworld when i came back from school today i looked at the letters to coinworld and one was saying something like about how he/she belonged to cointalk and about what Zaneman to protect the buyers in the fake 1799 dollar on ebay thats pretty cool cause cointalk might get some new members and maybe ebay will see it and unban Zane also i was wondering who sent it?
Also, were you reading this online, or in the print version? I'm fairly certain I know who wrote the letter, but I'll let them reveal themselves if they wish, it was a most excellent letter. : )
There was a counterfeit bust dollar on ebay. I notified both the seller and ebay that the coin was counterfeit, yet they refused to remove it. When the bidding got above 2000 dollars, I stepped in and entered a bid of 50k. I told the seller I had no intention of paying, and not to relist the item. He managed to get ebay to file an unpaid item strike against me, so I left him negative feedback. The next day I was banned, and not the seller who broke the law. Ebay refused to reinstate my account, until for some reason (I strongly suspect it was due to everyone's efforts here), the seller was banned from ebay, even then it took them a long time unfortunately.
Zane: Did you get in trouble with the guys that you purchased things from, and couldn't contact to pay? Congratulations agian. Big :thumb:
zanemans a celeb... way to go. I applauded your effort in saving unaware buyers, but I could never have bid. Glad it worked out though....could I have your autograph stan
Now that's a fine display of Character and Principles which I think all should try to emulate. Again, Well Done BIG Z!!! Ben
OK. Thanks for the explaination, zaneman. Yeah, there's a user agreement, that you must sign, before opening an eBay account. It sounds like you violated the user agreement. To be honest, I believe your intentions were good. In my humble opinion, the best advice we could ever offer to newbies (new to coin collecting, or new to eBay), is to avoid that venue until you have several years of experience (in dealing with coins), under your belt. The sharks, on eBay, know their prey inside and out. You may think your can of shark repellant will protect you, but you may discover that you were mistaken.
Zaneman, that's very good news to read here.Cointalk has been given some positive coverage by the print media for a change. Aidan.
That is awesome! Can anyone tell me exactly what issue of coin world it is? I"m not a subscriber, but I'd like to go to the newsstand and get a copy.
