First, this isn't a dig at NGC so don't take it as such. Being able to register, thus inventory your coins for free is a great tool and asset so I commend them for such. I've participated in a competitive set for fun to see my own progress with no real intent to compete but it's fun anyway.

I am certain they have reasons for how they assess points in the registry so I won't really get into that method. But a few things I found curious when I began to enter coins was how some very expensive coins got a surprisingly low score while some very inexpensive coins carried huge scores. It's just one of those odd things that makes you go hmmmmmmmm.

So, if so inclined I'd like people to post:
    A) Highest point coin
    B) Most points for the money points/dollar
    C) Least points for the money points/dollar

    So here are mine
    A) 1957 1 cent PF 68 RD 5201 points(yes, shocking)
    B) 1976-S Silver 25 cent PF 69 UCAM 3345pts/$20.00 = 167 points per dollar
    C) 1927 $20 Gold MS63 945pts/$1510 = .62 points per dollar

    So have fun

I'm not an NGC member, but flint did you happen to see my set that asked about?

I did. When I found it I remembered it from when you first posted it. Nice choices.

Not much of a 'registry' fellow here. I'm a member of the site and have entered my coins (commems) into the mix. Wonderful fun, but I appear to be way down in the poll. Who the devil cares........:)

I am VERY pro Registry Set.
    Why?
Because buying a bunch of coins to sock away in some storage facility is ridiculous.
I take pictures of my coins because it's hard to visit them in the safe deposit box at the bank.
Plus I'm proud of the coins I've acquired so I want to show them around.
A Registry Set is a nice place to gather coins together AND be able to say, "Look at what I've got".

What set are you putting that 1957 1 cent PF 68 RD in? Under Lincoln proofs, it only brings 230 points. The 1976-S Silver 25 cent PF 69 UCAM is only 139 points, but the 1927 $20 Gold MS63 is 2397.

And I thought they were the same value in all set. Boy was I wrong.

I've informed the host on the NGC website about the absurd discrepancies and they either don't understand why it is a problem (it makes a mockery of the registry system), don't understand the problem (they are dense), or they don't care.

I suspect they just don't care.
