So I went on line to check out having it placed into a new slab. NGC wants $39.00 to do the job. Well I had some of the Coin World slabs so I gave it a try. I trimmed down all four sides the only issue was the white insert was a little to thick. The slab almost closes all the way, I coul just glue it and that would work. nh broadstruck 001a-tile.jpg

Now it's just a raw coin.
If you should ever try to sell it, that's how it will be looked upon by potential buyers, as a raw coin.

That looks pretty good. Why do you want to glue it, don't you have any duct tape?

Seems like a huge waste of time and effort, for nothing.

A coin with character should have a slab with character . . .

If you have no intention of selling it...I have no problem with it. Enjoy your new slab!

Wouldn't this be considered as making a counterfeit NGC slab?

I wouldn't think so. There is no effort to deceive and the tag and the coin is authentic and correct. It's more like a Frankenstein NGC slab.

In that case, I vote for the duct tape.

You just can't keep a coin if not in plastic, can you? :D

Where on earth did you get that price? NGC charges $10 for a new holder.

I recall a certain someone asking to be allowed to piggyback on a PCGS submission so that he could save on fees. While I am not sure of the exact overall costs of a single reholder, I will assume that the "where on earth" has a little to do with something you should well understand.

If you are keeping it, you have a unique slab

Reholder at NGC $10 plus $8 submission fee plus shipping/insurance both ways.

Maybe so. But it's pretty obvious what the coin is. And it sure wouldn't surprise me if potential buyers estimated it would grade a good bit higher than MS62. So in that regard, being cracked out could be an advantage.

Plus shipping plus the $8.00 for whatever and return shipping

That's what I'm thinking I may send it to PCGS when I get my Baseball coins
