I came across this 3CN with a lamination error. Can anyone tell me if this will add to it vale or subtract from it? There is also a slight rotation that was not mention on the slap.
For that particular coin: Decrease the value. Collectors of the series want nice coins, I do believe. Less popular: "defective" proof coins
I would think with the right buyer this coin would command a premium. Based on what I have seen, proof errors are quite rare. If you found an error collector...which is someone who would really appreciate a coin like this, you will probably get a premium. Also, the slight rotation is really of no value here. Mild rotations like this are considered normal. That said, I would think MOST collectors would avoid this piece.
A Ngc graded Proof-65 Cameo 3 cent nickle Error!!! If auction on eBay this could make this error sell high. But at a normal bricks+ mortar coin shop what ever owner thinks they can charge. but most will allow a little lee way price wise. Nice PR-65 Cameo 3c error!!!
I'm all for errors, but for a nice proof like this I would think it would generally result in a decrease in value than an increase.
I think pieces like this are hard to price. An 1868 NGC PF65CAM recently sold at Heritage for $822.50. So, I would say that would be around the going rate for a normal example. Your average proof collector probably wouldn't want an error example and if they were even willing to buy it they would not want to pay full retail. However, if you found the right buyer who likes errors...it might be worth more to that person.
Yeah, the tough part for this one is really going to be finding someone that wants it. It really doesn't add to the 'value' of the coin... Just what you can get for it (two different things in my mind). What you can get will heavily depend on how much time and effort you put into hawking it, as the market for such a coin is going to be pretty small. Most proof collectors aren't going to be remotely interested.
Error coin can bring price up or down. PR 65 Cameo for date without a error and no cameo list in mint Coin World pricing Two hundred more. But that just a ballpark price.
