I've now seen YAGS (Yet Another Grading Service): "Rare Coins Grading". I'm not going to dignify the sale by posting the exact auction, but even my untrained eyes can see that the coin in question is not an "MS 66 PL". Many other of my personal red flags were tripped: - "$15K coin at PCGS" (but it's not a PCGS coin) - Exclamation point threshold exceeded - Long winded terms and conditions - Won't accept Paypal, will accept Bidpay ("just as easy and more secure!" yeah, like especially if you want the bidder to pay for paying you)
I'll try to remember for next time, but I didn't capture the auction number and it's probably long gone, since my initial post was on the 11th. [Edit: Felt bad, tried a search on the completed auctions, no luck.] Sorry, Condor...
Not accepting Paypal shouldn't be scary. If you have been burned like I have you wouldn't accept or use Paypal. I could go into my story(s), but just Google Paypal sucks or problems and you will see where lots of people have had problems.
Ah, so it appears that BidPay's model has changed from when I recall it. When I last checked it out it was a payment service that charged fees to the buyer, rather high fees if I recall correctly. Now it's free to the buyer and the fees are charged to the seller. My comment was therefore based on old information. I might consider using it in the future. There are lots of Paypal horror stories but I have a basic reason I won't use it for sales (except outside of eBay). I won't accept their ridiculous terms of the "upgrade" account-- Paypal then would get a cut of every transaction whether it was credit card based or not. I still use it for buying and for accepting payment from known people outside of eBay.
