First Auction How Did I Do??

Discussion in 'Coin Chat' started by MyNameIsCody07, Mar 16, 2014.

  1. So I went to my first auction today and was going mainly to observe how the entire thing went down. But I feel like I got some pretty good deals on the lots I ended up buying. What do you think?

    Franklin Halfs
    Lot 160 - 1958D 1961D = $12.50
    Lot 161 - 1954D 1962D = $10.00
    Lot 162 - 1960D 1961D = $12.50
    Lot 163 - 1959D 1963D = $12.50

    Washing Quarters
    Lot 164 - 52S/54D/57/63D/64 - $10
    Lot 165 - 51D/53D/57D/59D/64D - $10

So nothing special really, but that is pretty low below spot, so most likely going in the silver stack.

The best looking coin to me is the 58 Franklin.

very cheap silver! about 11 times face value was a steal.

  4. Yep, 11.42 times face to be exact. Seemed like the other few collectors there were looking more at the Notes that came in and the more numismatic coins.

Well done! Silver below spot is always nice. The Friday night auction crowd in my area pays 20x+ face for junk silver so you are very, very lucky.

Good job it's very tough to buy silver under melt anymore. Especially at auction

    Was there a buyer's fee?
That's the sort of thing that can jump up and bite you sometimes.

I would also be curious on the buyers fee and state tax. It can add another 20% in New York.

  13. Buyers few was 10% so everything was really 11$ and 13.75$

The 11.42 times face mentioned earlier was done with that calculated in already
