Acetone is most definitely NOT carcinogenic.

No problem. Actually acetone ( a ketone) is produced in humans as a end product of saturated fat metabolism. The long fatty acid chains are split into acetoacetate, and if higher in proportion than the person metabolism can convert, acetone is produced. Luckily it is picked up easily by body water and eliminated in urine, perspiration, breath moisture, etc. An undertreated diabetic or obese high fat consumers can smell of acetone. You would have to dunk your hands in acetone for more than a few minutes of time for the process to go in the reverse direction, just don't drink it.

The comment about California was a joke. There are a lot of things which are not considered to be carcinogenic but you used to find labels on a lot of them labeled (This chemical of believed to be a Carcinogen by the state of California)
