We have had a few threads asking people to post their purchases from the redemption of eBay bucks. Since the next payout is in a couple of weeks, I was wondering if anybody has noticed a bump in sales, or higher prices realized from auctions during this redemption period. The reason I ask is that I was about to unload a chunk of surplus, but don’t have any problem waiting a couple of weeks if it means more interest and better prices. Thanks for the input.
The last payout was on January 3, but a buyer contacted me about multiple purchases he wanted to make on February 1, because his eBay bucks were about to expire. So he didn't use them until weeks after the certificate was issued to him. I suppose that means that there is probably a group of buyers that use them on/around the issue date, and another group that rushes to use them right before they expire, 30 days later.
Customers wanting to use eBucks have typically contacted me about a week before the award is to be received, asking if they can commit to the purchase early, and pay me when the award is received. It's nice to know in advance if a buyer is going to take longer than just a couple of days to come through with payment, even if eBay affords them more time than that . . . it's just a common courtesy. I myself typically redeem eBucks for non-numismatic items, and don't necessarily fit any particular redemption pattern as far as when I spend them.
How do you get ebay bucks? Is it from buying or selling? I do both on ebay frequently. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Ebay bucks are great but the new limit of 5 dollars kinda suck you have to spend a lot of money to get the 5 dollars as of now i need another 1.20 worth or so to keep them all !!
Ebay bucks is a free reward program that gives buyers a 2% credit for most purchases on ebay. Occasionally, they do promotions where buyers get double, triple, and quadruple ebay bucks days, so the credit can really add up. It's used just like cash. The payout is every three months, and buyers have one month to use the credit. http://pages.ebay.com/rewards/faq.html
Among other restrictions, purchases made in the following categories DO NOT qualify: eBay Motors (including Parts & Accessories) Classifieds Real Estate Gift Cards & Coupons, but only for eBay Gift Cards within that category Coins & Paper Money, but only for Bullion within that category Business & Industrial
Occasionally, ebay does bonus buck offers. To my knowledge, they don't give notice, it just pops up on the main page as a bonus offer until midnight. They've actually had a few these past couple of weeks. Generally, you need to spend at least 50 bucks to qualify for the double bucks, 100 for the triple, and 150 for the quadruple (or something like that). Still, it's good if you have a "buy it now" coin you've been watching and need a reason to pull the trigger.
They will also sometimes offer additional bucks if you pay with "Bill Me Later" via PayPal. This is easy to take advantage of since they don't have any restriction to immediately pay off the balance so you don't incur any interest.
I think the first few days of the month are good because a lot of people get paid. Plus they get their ebay bucks. They might have had their eye on something and were waiting for the paycheck and bucks. I keep reading about great discounts and ebay bucks promotions people get notified of, but I haven't gotten an offer in over a year. They do offer a lot of seller promotions. I have 3 or 4 of those active right now.
I sure wish eBay would do a better job of promoting these "promotions". It's been years since I've seen an eBay-bucks-multiplier promotion, and I'm on there looking for goodies nearly every day. Heck, I got a 10% off coupon a couple of weeks ago, and didn't see it until a few hours before it expired. I got very lucky that time -- someone listed a double eagle BIN just above melt, so I was able to snag it well below melt post-coupon. (The maximum discount was $100, so I maxed it out with a bit to spare.) Sold it at the local coin show and basically recouped the $100 as cash. But I sure wonder what other deals I've missed...
