Looks like someone took a erasure to the mint mark. How much does it take from the value?

It could likely be an altered 1932-P with the mint mark applied. Common thing for these.

If you can get a really clear close-up of the mint mark that would help.

    I really don't the it's a fake 1932 d quarter. I can't get any better pictures

I don't think anybody on this forum is going to help you authenticate the originality of that quarter without better photos of the mintmark. These are so many fakes with added mintmarks that every raw 32-D rightly deserves a high level of scrutiny.

That's not what I was asking. I was asking how would the erasure mark effect the value

The whole point is that what you referring to as an "erasure mark" may be evidence of the mint mark being doctored, which would of course make the coin worth close to melt value.

Based on the obverse, the coin has been cleaned so the erased area is irrelevant with respect to value. You either have a cleaned 1932-D that is worth some money or a cleaned 1932-P with an added mintmark that is worth melt.

It kills the value. It's a problem coin and there is no way to fix it.

Agreed. The coin has been harshly cleaned on both sides...not just the mint mark area. If it is an authentic 32-D it has some value but considerably less than a non-cleaned example. If it's an altered 32-(P) it is worth melt.
