Hello I was wondering if anyone could tell me about this coin. I have had it for about two years and have never figured out anything past that its a penny (I Think). There is a stamp on one side that says "A & R Paris" ? Thankyou to whoever figures it out. pics are here: http://passer.sitesled.com/heads.bmp and here: http://passer.sitesled.com/tails.bmp
Brophi, welcome aboard. If it is slightly bigger than a Canadian 25c. coin, then it is a Halfpenny,or if it is slightly bigger than a U.S. $1/2,then it is a Penny. It is damaged beyond recognition, but it was a bronze British coin of Queen Victoria (reigned 1837-1901) that someone has engraved on as a charm of some sort. Aidan.
brophi: First, welcome, Second: It is a British cent, Victoria, and the reverse was engraved as a love token. It appears to have been holed, and plugged.
Frank,Great Britain has never had Cents. The closest thing in size to a U.S. large Cent is the British Halfpenny. The Canadian large Cent is the same size as the bronze British Halfpenny. Aidan.
