Yikes... That poor lady has seen better days! Not much meat left on that one. I can't pick up any particular details!
My best guess is S-194 or S-195 due to the spacing of the date, including the distance from the tip of 1 to the curl and hair and the space between the second 0 and the bust. But only probability indicates that it's probably the S-194 since I can detect no markers indicating one or the other.
thanks for the reply marshall. the zeros in the date look thinner on this coin than they do on S-194 and S-195. the shape of the zeros on this coin also looks different. the berry over the O in ONE CENT hangs down on this coin. there appears to be something on this coin that looks like it might be a vertical die scratch or die break, starting from the lowest berry on the left side and going up through both C and E of ONE CENT and a bit further. the letters AME appear to be sort of connected.
It's definitely not S-196 since there is a significant space between the final 0 and the bust. On the S-196, the final 0 is very close to the bust while the first 0 is distant making it appear that the final 0 is high. This is also true with the NC-2 and S-197. The NC-1 does not have the pronounced 9 under the first 0. It appears to be type 2 hair eliminating S-190, S-191, NC-5 and NC-6. The obverse of S-192 and S-193 are my second choice as possibilities. I eliminated them since the 8 appears ever so slightly closer to the 1 than the first 0 which I do not see on the subject. This left me with the obverse of S-194 ans S-195. I do not see any stem on the berry at O or the break. Perhaps it can only be seen in hand. But a falling berry would not match a known overdate variety of 1800.
thanks for the reply and the great information. i have not received the coin yet so i don't know if any other details can be seen with the coin in hand. i did some work on the reverse photo and changed the color. i don't know if it will help with seeing anything else about the coin.
