Marcus Aurelius AE As. 161-162 AD. 10.0g, 24g OBV: IMP CAES M AVREL ANTONINVS AVG P M Bare head right. REV: CONCORD AVGVSTOR TR P XVI S-C, COS III in ex, Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus standing, clasping hands. REF: RIC 830; Cohen 52. I purchased this coin last year in March. I simply forgot to post about it here. When I was going through my coins a few days ago I noticed this coin wasn't in my online gallery. I remember posting about it when I was about to purchase it, but after that it just set in a pile of coins. The coin is no longer forgotten.
I like yours as well! It actually scared me for a second that we both had the same coin and we would have to consider the 'F' word.
Nice piece, Gil. Wish I had one of these I forgot about and was waiting to be discovered in my drawer too. Unfortunately I don't and will have to buy one at some point.
I had a similar problem. I accidentally dropped a coin down the drain when I was cleaning it. I took the pipes apart and all that and couldn't find it. Still haven't found it. It really ticked me off big time. Even though the coin was a common one.
Very nice coin for the price GG. This one I got for $22 shipped a while back: MARCUS AURELIUS AE Sestertius OBVERSE: M ANTONINVS AVG GERM SARMATICVS, laureate head right REVERSE: TR P XXIX IMP VIII COS III S-C, Annona standing left, holding corn-ears & cornucopiae; modius with two corn-ears and poppy at her feet Struck at Rome, 175 AD 22.3g, 30mm RIC 1154
Great coin Gil-galad ... congrats on remembering that you owned it!! Ummm, I only own one Marcus Aurelius coin, but it is definitely one of my all-time favourites!!
