Tracy - while I understand and greatly admire your enthusiasm for the modern mint products there is something I feel I should say for the benefit of others. These highest prices recorded should absolutley not be used as an indicator of things to come in regard to these coins. The only thing that these prices mean is that someone was willing to pay that much for the coins. It does not mean that they were justified in doing so. To the contrary, it very well may have been, and usually is a huge mistake. Anytime you or anyone else wants to know a fair price for a given coin they need to take an average. And the correct way to take an average is throw out the highest and lowest prices and all of the others that are within a few dollars of those highest and lowest numbers, and average the rest. Only in this way can you determine what a fair price is. So please, do not be misled.
current mintages mintages as of n.news 1/30/07 issue. 1 oz ---- 44,428 1/2 oz --13,000 1/4 oz --13,942 1/10 oz- 20,144
The 4 coins sets must be over 10,000 by now, I think out best hope is they stop at 10,500. They made more 4 coin sets in the Platinum W Unc than $10 coins and it they did the same ratio it could go as high as 12,300 sets for the gold coins. Each day that goes by now means less upside for these coins, I think they are still good buys but anything over 12,500 sets and it gets less and less. They will have buffalo fractional coins out this year to compete with the w UNC, the regular bullion, and also the proof gold, could drop the mintages of the others as people get confused on which to buy.
The 4-Coin Set is "NOT AVAILABLE" as of this evening; This is the message on the banner after putting one in the cart. I received my set this morning. The packaging is no frills, somewhat retro and appealing. The coins are MARVELOUS! I definitely plan on keeping htese a long while... Cheers
Thanks, looks like a sell-out. If these numbers hold in two years or less I expect the 1/2 ounce to be worth as much as we paid for the whole set [in MS69].
2006 w unc gold set is sold out 4 pc set is sold out. only one ounce gold available. final mintage might be as follows: 1/10 oz -- 21,000 1/4 oz ---- 14,798 1/2 oz ---- 13,856 final analysis: all three gold coins were the lowest so far for unc and proof combined. but the one ounce gold and one ounce silver were also considered the few or the lowest too. the one ounce silver already up its price. soon the gold were also be up.
I ordered and got that message. Does that mean I'm not going to get the order? It still let me order, but it states they are "not available" under order status.

Tracy I know it may not matter a whole lot but you are liable to find out that in the end those 2006 mintage numbers will change.
Any guesses for 2007 gold UNC? I have been thinking about this and I am not so sure the 2007 will sell much more than the 2006, other than the one ounce which should come in lower. The reason I say this is the w UNC coins are not being sold at bullion prices, so I am not so sure we will see a lot of drift from the bullion buyers to these coins. Then you have the ratio of UNC coins to Proof coins. Usually others coins sell at a ratio of 1/2 proof to UNC or even down to 1/3, and this year they sold 35,000 1/2 proof, 35,000 1/4 proof, and 40,000 1/10 proof gold. If you take half of those figures you get 17,500 1/2, 17,500 1/4, and 20,000 1/10. So from that it looks like the 10th may have come in at a normal level, or even a bit high. I think based on the price of the current 2006W unc coins that may drive more demand for the 2007 for flipping but I would guess they sell 30,000 1/10 this year and maybe 25,000 of the 1/4 and 1/2. I think this will be the year to buy the one ounce though, as it should break down to maybe 27,000 or so. All only a guess.
When sending the 4-coin set (2006 w unc gold eagle) to PGCS or NGC for grading, does it matter if I send in the set (1) still sealed in US Mint outer package or (2) without the mint box (i.e., the 4 individual coins in US Mint capsule but no box? Thanks.
still not delivered. my 2006 (w) unc am eagle $5.00 gold coin still pending for delivery. it stated expected delivery date on feb. 12, 2007.
Buck I received two AGE 4 coin sets a week ago, and plan to sell one. I've seen them sold on ebay ungraded, graded and still in the shipping box. I'm looking for an opinion. I know that if I get them graded, I may come up with a 70, but maybe not. I could come up short with a 69 or the dreaded 68. I've seen some great prices on sets left in the box. Should I take the chance with NGC or let someone else take the risk with my unopened box?
That's a tough choice, if it was me I would send in both sets to be graded as NGC is handing out as many 70's as 69's. I think there has only been one 68 given so far. http://www.ngccoin.com/poplookup/poplookup-reportlarge.asp?PopSubCatID=75&Designation=MS
why slab it?. why going slab?. when you knew a lot of modern coins graded ms-68 to ms-70. just looking at it by yourself. you can know if it is ms 68 or ms 70.
Buck I've seen some releases being sold on ebay for less in NGC 69 than what you could sell the raw set for. I'm just looking for some input.
