1949 Nickel - Clipped or PMD?

Pretty worn so I cant really tell if it's actually clipped or not.

Looks like a legit clip to me but it is pretty worn.

 

I'm leaning toward PMD because I don't see any signs of the Blakesley Effect on the opposite side from the clip.

What about near the rim in "America"? It looks to be a little weaker to me.

 

I think it's a legit straight clip.

=> oh, and you're correct => you should definitely be lookin' for that Blakesley Effect ... sadly, in this case I can talk myself in and out of seeing this effect ...

=> curious though, for the "clip" itself seems kinda flat, rather than being curved

There are both curved and straight clips. A straight clip results from a blank being punched too close to the end of a strip.

 

It looks legit to me and as for the Blakeslee Effect, I think the clip is too small to have added that effect during the upsetting process.

Due to the tapering of the letters right next to the edge of the clip, I say it is real.
