I've had this guy for about twenty years and have never been sure about its value. Does anyone here have an idea of that? Sorry for being a noob and just joining your board to ask. Thanks in advance! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This one looks to be about a 15% off-center broadstrike. I checked sold listings on ebay and heritage and looks like it should sit in the $100-$250 range depending on condition. If you send it in to be graded and slabbed or provide better pics here for the pros to look at, I'm sure someone can give you a better idea. NICE COIN!
Thanks Butter! Is there an FAQ on this site with info on where or how to have a coin graded? I'm not really interested in keeping this any more if it has that much value. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's really up to you on how you want to proceed. There area few repectable grading sites out there such as PCGS, NGC, and ANACS. There are obviously fees associated with this process and you have to send the coin in. You should check out their sites. I believe their may be info on this site as well, regarding grading and selling. Search around or maybe someone else will chime in with some more info.
Also, if you're just looking to unload it quickly without going thru grading and slabbing, you could bring it to a local dealer and see if his offer is suitable for u or just ebay it as is.
Are you sure it's a broadstrike? I thought with broadstrikes, the whole design still stays on the planchet.
Correction, I should have simply said struck off-center. It is not a broadstrike error, but the sell prices mentioned were of coins similar to op's coin. Thanks non_cents.
I agree with your off-center analysis/pricing. One with what looks like close to the same percentage off-center sold for $137 on ebay last month. The one in this three looks to be in better condition, so I might venture a guess of $150-175. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1976-Kennedy-Half-Dollar-Off-Center-Mint-Error-Wow-/121262448591?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item1c3bce1fcf&nma=true&si=07IOcm2nxHakJBE8GncSawLnG8g%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Congrats on the find, Mattybz28!
