Hi all, I'm new to this site and was looking for some advise. I had bought a 2007-date uncerculated ms60 set of presidential dollars from littleton coin company. I was putting them in the book when I noticed that the George Washington coin was a different color than the rest. Both faces seemed to have a grey color to them. the outer edges do not have the same grey on them. All the detail seems to be there just discolored. I was wondering if this was some kind of tarnish, or if the coin was struck with oil on the die. The photos show the one coin next to another Washington dollar I had, And two of the photos hide the details but are good shots of the discoloration. Any advise would be great. thankyou
First, welcome to the neighborhood! For some reason, I can't enlarge your photos. Regardless, I do not recommend that you buy coins from Littleton. Despite what you might pay as an "introductory offer" they are often over-priced and the quality is usually poor. Chris
I search dollar rolls that I get from my CU. The coins that come from those rolls look a lot nicer than that first coin in your pictures. Plus side - they only cost $1
Yeah I will probably do that for the rest of the set. That coin under the loop looks good as far as detail. very few scratches, and the discoloration doesn't seem raised or pitted or anything like that from oxidation.
Will do. i just bought there state quarter set too. waiting for it to still com in. Hopefully it is better than what i got here.
