I've been moving my SLQ top collection to AU / MS where possible - and so, given budgetary considerations, that means AU50s are often my best bet. Here are 7 Standing Liberty Quarters all graded AU50 by PCGS, ANACS and ICG - the closest NGC graded SLQs I have were XF or MS, so they aren't on offer for this review. I note that the grading is pretty consistent in my view, I do think a couple are undergraded in hand, but isn't that so often the case with us collectors? (Mine is NICER!!!) I find some bargains can be had, especially in lower AU or MS graded slabs - of course we endeavor to buy the coin, not the slab. Any thoughts? Anyone else want to post an SLQ for comparison sake? I am improving as a photographer thanks to practice and guidance from this forum, but I apologize the quality isn't better (iPhone 13).
I am partial to 50, TPG graded or not. MS level, I am partial to 64, TPG graded or not. I decide using Technical Opinion, only. Only sight seen, unless CAC'd.
I have tried to buy only MS quality SLQ's but this deal came along and I couldn't resist bidding. Ended up paying only $930 for this example of the 1921 issue. What do you guys or gals think? j.T.
Hello Vertigo, This guy (without the money) now, considers hisself lucky to have had $$$ at the right time (25 years ago) and bought both wisely & luckily. I don't know about @MIGuy But Thanks for the thought! J.T.
Wow! That's an impressive 1921. I have 3 SLQs that I'm not likely to get into AU/MS condition (though who knows what the future holds) - my 1916 (FR02), my 1923-S (VF35 Cleaned, Corroded) and my 1921 (VF20, Green CAC bean). My 1921 was a bit over $540 after some negotiation in the last year. Nicely done, sir!
Thank you, yes, I need to borrow your magic wallet where my money gets bigger overnight! Do you have money gnomes or how does that work? Hee!
