Thread #10 where I ask the fine members of CoinTalk their opinions on a coin I have already sent to CAC for review.

Please let me know what you think, such as:

Will it fail to CAC, and why?
Will it be a green or gold CAC sticker?
What (negative) issues does the coin have?
What positive attributes does the coin have?
Is the strike good or bad?
Is the toning pretty or ugly?
    etc

Up for consideration is a 1924 $1 Peace Dollar NGC MS62!! in NGC4 "No Line Fattie" holder.

Honestly, of all the coins I've posted in my series "Will It CAC?", I will probably drop dead if this one doesn't go GOLD CAC. I don't know what NGC was thinking. Coin has nice satiny luster, very few big hits, just fantastic. It doesn't have that blast white cartwheel luster, but I'm telling you it's not stripped dead, which MS62 might imply.

Doug (GDJMSP), care to weigh in on this one? I know you dont really care one way or the other about CAC, but tell me does this grade higher than 62 in YOUR book?

As long as there is no PVC hidden somewhere on it then it looks nicer than MS62.

Peace dollars are tough from a pic , but this one looks nicer than 62 . So yes , if there's no wear that I'm missing it should get a gold . The problem is CAC is very stingy with those gold beans .

I personally feel like this could have scored a MS63 grade, so I'd say a gold bean may be justified.

I like the original look that this coin has. If this was a "guess the grade" I would have definitely chosen at least 63.

No gold bean. Possible green bean.

geekpryde how about you post the results of the 20 coins you got back from cac.

Sure thing, but between my "Will It CAC" threads and various "post your xxx" threads, many of the results have been shared. This first batch was my test submission, and it literally just send in everything laying around. Here is the final tally in one summary:

p.s my value column is just full retail as estimated by NGC.

Second batch of coins is bigger, and more expensive coins.

In the correct light, the appears to be a scratch on Liberty's neck, not a deep scratch like a staple scratch, more superficial than that, but I wonder if that lead to the original MS62 grade? I still think this coin will sticker. You can see a hint of it in the above images, ending at the "E" in "WE".

I'm shocked this didn't go GOLD!

But it did get the Green sticker.
