    What I actually got....

I really appreciate all of the input I received on this thread and was somewhat amazed by the number of people who suggested reference books.I have no objection to good coin books but bear in mind that this is my birthday gift and I had my heart set on getting a coin that I might not otherwise buy for myself.Books for your birthday are somewhat like underwear and socks for Christmas. Both are absoloutely essential but not too exciting as a gift.
So...after much research,I went to ebay, typed in "seated liberty" and narrowed the search by choosing "buy now" "accepts paypal" and "$30-50" price range.
Surprisingly, quite a few nice coins that popped up but most were halves, quarters and some dimes in G to F condition. Then, this little coin appeared and I knew it was the one.I got it plus $5 S/H and $4 left over out of my $50.
    Happy Birthday to me.

Nice looking 1/2 dime Mikjo0, Thanks for sharing.

My Mom picked up a 1888 seated dime in change just before christmas. She could hardly make out the date but who cares.

    Very cool :thumb:

Good choice. I can understand why you'd go with a coin instead of a book.
