Has anyone noticed a mint mark that is not centered? I have a Denver 1953 penny, "D" mint mark beneath the 5 in the year.

Before 1990 the mintmarks were all punched into the individual dies by hand. For this reason the mintmarks tend to "wander around" from one die to the next. As long as it was in the triangular area bounded by the rim, the bust, and the date, and it wasn't touching any of them, it was considered to be good enough and not an "error".
