I was in the market for a SLQ Type 1. I knew I was going to spend a little money because frankly I want good detail on the breast. I personally see no point having it in a type set if you can't see the dramatic difference. So I hit some dealer sites and ebay. I came across this one at an OK price but I wasn't too enthused about it based upon the pic. So I researched the PCGS Cert and sure enough it was legit and it also showed it was sold at Heritage in 2010. So I hit that link and get this picture Same coin with dramatically different pictures. So I buy it. It arrived today and I am very pleased for the price. It's actually somewhere in between both in color. Just a very nice light toning. I took pics for my own records and the funny thing is that with a flash I get the Heritage color and without flash I get better detail but a bit more toning. This is a bit darker than the actual coin. It's amazing how photography and especially white balance can change a coin
Beautiful coin! It seems like common sense to most of us, but it can't be said enough - good pictures radically affect a coins price. Although the first coin you linked was not a terrible picture, I'm amazed sometimes by how many people just don't care enough to photograph their coins with accuracy/detail.
Very nice Type 1 SLQ. They are a bit pricey, but I think they are one of the most unique US coin observe designs. Beautiful coin, congrats!
Nice coin I probably wouldn't bought it from the first pic due to lack of detail but probable would have from the ha pic I'm due to upgrade my slqs next got a couple nice walkers now being an early guy I've neglected my 20th c type coins
