Red Guidebook 2014 mintage error

Discussion in 'Coin Chat' started by MyNameIsCody07, Feb 24, 2014.

  1. So everyone I have looked says the 2009 Nickel has an extremely low mintage. But the 2014 Red Guidebook has the 2009 D Nickel at 468 million coins. I was under the impression it was closer to 46 million. Is this just a simple typo? And if so, how many other ones could there be. photo.JPG

i believe it is a typo, wiki has these numbers
    • 2009 P - 39,840,000
    • 2009 D - 46,800,000

  4. That is what I was thinking. I wonder how many other typos are in this book. Anyone have the 2013 version that is willing to check what it says for the 2009 D?

They added a 0 by accident. The mintage was low since it was discontinued for part of 2009.

  7. Cool thanks Yankee42,

I wonder how to send them an email or something to let them know of the mistake. Ill check my book when I get home from work to see if there is any contact info.

There are other errors as well.
Since Q.David Bowers is on the list as research editor, I would send it to him. (and I did pg 226 error)
2013 error page 226 Morgan dollar picture error, reverse caption 'first reverse 8 tail feathers' picture is third reverse.
Hope the 2014 red book is correct.
