When I traded my Nero, I also traded my other titus for this one. It had several things I liked better then my older one. So this cost me nothing. Titus (79 - 81 A.D.) AR Denarius O: IMP TITVS CAES VESPASIAN AVG P M, laureate head right. R: TR P VIIII IMP XIIII COS VII P P, Ceres seated left, holding corn ear, poppy, & torch. Rome 79 A.D. 18.5mm 3.1g RIC 22, RCV 2508
I like it Mat. Especially the reverse. I'm still hunting for the right Titus. But have decided to stick with bronze for now. You can't beat the price you got on that one. Nicely done!
Later in the same year after Titus took IMP XV, the TRP VIIII was changed to TRP IX. Unfortunately mine is weak on that side but still there. It is a coin I'd like to upgrade with a bold IX. There are several types with the subtractive 9. http://www.acsearch.info/search.html?search=similar:708481#0
Nice coin Mat. Here is one similar to Doug's but minted a year later: TITUS AR Denarius OBVERSE: IMP TITVS CAES VESPASIAN AVG P M, laureate head right REVERSE: TRP IX IMP XV COS VIII PP, elephant walking left Struck at Rome, 80 AD 2.5g, 17mm RIC 115
Also this nice provincial of Titus from Alexandria struck the same year as the OP coin: TITUS Billon Tetradrachm OBVERSE: AVTOK TITOY - laureate head right REVERSE: Bust of Serapis right, LB before Struck at Alexandria, Egypt, Year 2 = 79-80 AD 12.7g, 25mm Dattari 426, BMC 2741, RPC 2464
Again, lucky to have an elephant & that provincial is really nice. Surprised I never caught it in your gallery
