    Theft in Salisbury

A theft took place today in Salisbury, NC from a dealer who came to the show. Two cases were taken through a busted window on his vehicle. Download a list of stolen items here.

Most are normal coins but a number of the notes have identifiable serial numbers. Please keep your eyes open. The Salisbury police are investigating and can be contacted if you see them.

The owner can be contacted in Marion, NC Jeff Hicks, 828-460-7867 or 828-652-2256.

You would think a dealer would be much smarter than that. Most know better. Most insurance plans will not cover coins left in your car. I feel sorry for the guy but wow.

For a second I thought I knew Jeff. I bet I have seen him before, but I don't know that I could pick him out of a crowd. It's a shame either way.

This happened at the Parsippany coin show in NJ a couple of years ago. A dealer was followed from the parking lot of the coin show. He stopped at a diner on the way home and when he came out he found his car broken into and all of his inventory gone. Luckily for him there was no altercation - thieves were probably going to follow him home - who knows what might have happened. Coins can be replaced...

Yes it was the story I was referring to in my post, not the story of the original post.
