When I bought my Galerius I also bought this Maximianus Herculius Tet. due to what I consider to be quite exceptionally good style on the obverse.

    Billon tetradrachm
    Obv:–MAXIMIANOC CEB, Laureate bust right
Rev:– None, Athena, seated left, holding Victory and spear..
    Minted in Alexandria (L I| A). A.D. 296
    Reference(s) – Curtis -, BMC -, Milne -. Emmett 4102 (Year 11) Rated R3

Thanks for all the comments. I know that these tets. can be quite bland at times but some of their engravers seem to have had quite a bit of skill.

I was discussing this coin elsewhere because I was wondering what the mark in the upper right field might be. An expert in the field (who remains anonymous on that forum and thus I will not identify him) was of the opinion that it is a star. This would make this coin an unpublished variety. He did note that Dattari 5847 has date L--IA; star right and thus a star in the right field is known for this series and thus this coin is not completely unexpected.
