Do any of you on here that search rolls collect rolls as well? I have about 40 different rolls of bank wrapped unc solid dates that I'm hanging on to for my grand kids and was just wondering if anyone else saved them as well?

How old are your grandchildren? Are most of the rolls "moderns" like state quarters, prez dollars, etc?

They range from 2 1/2 years old to 1 week old three boys and a girl. Plus I have three kids that aren't married yet so maybe more to come. I have mostly cents from 60's to present some I have several rolls of also dimes, nickels, and a few state quarters. Just an assortment that I pick up at face or maybe a little over. I just thought it would be pretty cool to leave them for the kids or even search them when they get old enough to know what's going on. I really want to encourage them to collect coins as it is a great hobby and can be a good investment. Even if it isn't a monetary investment the quality time spent with them would be worth it. Do you collect rolls yourself or know where to find rolls or bags other than Ebay unless you know a reputable dealer there?

Yes, it's always good to be able to get involved with your kids/grandkids, but it will have to be their decision whether or not they become involved in the hobby.

Looking down the road, don't be surprised if we continue to see Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt & Kennedy on our coinage for many years to come. If you can see your way through it, it would be nice if you could add to those a few rolls here or there of circulated IHC's, Buff's, Merc's, SLQ's and maybe even some Walker or Franklin halves. They don't have to be XF/AU/BU, but chances are that 15-20 years from now, they will become harder and harder to find at reasonable prices. Your grandkids will have very likely familiarized themselves with the current coinage of recent dates, so it would really be nice to show them, firsthand, some of the coins that your father or grandfather used.

As for me, I'm living on Social Insecurity now, so my purchasing days are coming close to an end. When I was actively buying, though, I liked to concentrate on Morgan dollars mostly, but for current coins, I preferred to buy bags of the newest releases from the Mint to get high grade business strikes for resale and to search for errors & varieties. The fun part of searching a newly-released bag of same date/mm coins is that if you find one error or variety, the chances are good there may be others.

If you don't like or trust FleaBay, then your best bet would be to attend as many shows as you can to check out what is available. Sometimes, you can get some pretty good deals if you find the right dealer. That's the other good thing about coin shows, if the dealer is an old grump, you can just move on to, hopefully, greener pastures.
