Nice looking coin with a high grade....Oh wait, look closer. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1937-D-Linc...r-/131120595119?&_trksid=p2056016.m2518.l4276 Is this severe PVC damage that developed after being holdered? Or something else? Coin still have great luster, but a real bad buy for some poor soul.
Funny guy... $13.27 International Priority Shipping to Canada On topic, I don't think that looks like PVC damage. Unique toning, reaction with impurities after dipping, something else... not PVC.
Their is another thing i have been seeing these older holders are not imo airtite toning can get pretty bad in these old holders. and i have seen other things in these old holders. i don't think their airtite this coin was prolly stored in a bad area !!
He should send it back to NGC so they can update the label to Red/Green. An instant rarity. How many Red/Green MS-67 Lincoln cents do you know of? LOL!
Perhaps it was green when NGC slabbed it the first time. My 1937 MS coins for some reason tend to tone more intensely than previous and later year in the 30s. I have never cut open a NGC holder of the generation shown, but many holders have the coin in a silicone gasket which with the sonic seal does a very good job of limiting gas flow.
Usually, yes, but what happens if it is already there, whatever it might be? Remember this one. It was only 65 red and that is not iridescent toning.
