Thread #07 where I ask the fine members of CoinTalk their opinions on a coin I have already sent to CAC for review. Last one for tonight. Please let me know what you think, such as: Will it fail to CAC, and why? Will it be a green or gold CAC sticker? What (negative) issues does the coin have? What positive attributes does the coin have? Is the strike good or bad? Is the toning pretty or ugly? etc Up for consideration is a 1946 50C Walking Liberty Half NGC MS65 in NGC3 "No Line Fattie" holder. This is something interesting on the Obverse and Reverse, what looks to me to be die-polishing lines, and hopefully not scratches. (see detail shots below) Detail Shots of Die Polish Lines:
Hard to tell how much is die polish lines and how much is bag marks I can't call this one without seeing in hand
Yeah, the only real concern I have are the marks to the left of "In God". For whatever reason, the others areas are clearly polish lines, both those look like scratches. The one thing is, they are in same general direction as the higher up lines.
I don't think any of them are scratches, although to the left of In God and beneath We Trust those are distracting to me even in the picture of the slab. That being said it is a beautiful piece with or without CAC label which I have no idea if it will get one or not.
