Awhile back I found out that people collected the MPCs made during war times. I remembered that I had some new never circulated MPCs I brought back from my service in Vietnam. I just saw they have been shipped and checked the grades. So here is the list of what I have and the grades I received. Not sure what day they will arrive in the mail....hopefully Monday, but I never got an email saying they were shipped with a tracking number. I never saw any pinholes in any of the bills but I guess I will have to check those two when I get them. 001US$1Series 681Military Payment Certificate First Printing 64 EPQ Exceptional Paper Quality 002US$1Series 681Military Payment Certificate First Printing 64 EPQ Exceptional Paper Quality 003US5 CentSeries 681Military Payment Certificate First Printing 64 EPQ Exceptional Paper Quality 004US5 CentSeries 681Military Payment Certificate First Printing 64 EPQ Exceptional Paper Quality 005US10 CentSeries 681Military Payment Certificate First Printing 65 EPQ Exceptional Paper Quality 006US10 CentSeries 681Military Payment Certificate First Printing 55 Pinholes 007US25 CentSeries 681Military Payment Certificate First Printing 64 Pinholes 008US25 CentSeries 681Military Payment Certificate First Printing 53 EPQ Exceptional Paper Quality 009US50 CentSeries 681Military Payment Certificate First Printing 67 EPQ Exceptional Paper Quality 010US50 CentSeries 681Military Payment Certificate First Printing 67 EPQ Exceptional Paper Quality 011US5 CentSeries 661Military Payment Certificate First Printing 64 012US10 CentSeries 661Military Payment Certificate First Printing 66 EPQ Exceptional Paper Quality 013US10 CentSeries 661Military Payment Certificate First Printing 67 EPQ Exceptional Paper Quality 014US25 CentSeries 661Military Payment Certificate First Printing 65 EPQ Exceptional Paper Quality 015US25 CentSeries 661Military Payment Certificate First Printing 64 016US50 CentSeries 661Military Payment Certificate First Printing 65 EPQ Exceptional Paper Quality
I suspect so. They had been sitting in an envelope in a box with a bunch of other stuff either in the garage when I was in Calif or in the attic here in NC. So I wanted to finally get them properly taken care of after I found out they might be worth something.
Just looked at the Greensheet for you. Unfortunately, all the series 681's will only get you around $10-14 in Gem CU65 grades. That is going from the 5c note to the 1.00 note. But the few you have in 67 might fetch much higher prices. For your series 661 it is the same thing. They will bring anywhere between $12-20 from 5c to 50c but that was it. Now if you had and of the $5, $10 or $20 notes, they were in the hundreds of dollars and even some priced at just over $1000. But it is all about supply and demand. There may be collectors out there who would pay premiums for choice MPCs.
Well, I got them graded mostly for preservation instead if sitting around in an envelope open to silverfish eating them or whatever else could damage them. Don't know if I'd sell any of them anytime soon.
