I want to put together a set of the 1976 Bicentennial reverse coins and was wondering what coins y'all think need to included. I am going to start with proof 69 DCAM for the proofs and MS66 or MS67 for the business strikes. I know these want be extremely expensive but how hard are they going to be to find in PCGS holders? This is the first one I'm starting with did I make a good choice? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1976-S-WASH...gtKdB3nvbl%2Bhg0ZkZEE%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
1976 Quarter PCGS Population: 252, 331 with D mint mark. Grade 66 (most common) 881 Grade 66 1976-S Silver Quarter, 2,354 Grade 67 (most common) Seems the population for the silver ones are more plentiful. I'd go with silver. There are 134 Grade 65 Clad 1976 Halves (65 most common). There are 2,056 Grade 67 Silver '76 Halves. Grade 67 most common. There are over 3,500 grade 67 silver '76 ike dollars in population. I would go with silver for the set. There is a higher population in higher grades, so it would be easier to obtain. 1976-S Silver Quarter PCGS MS67 trends for around $15-$20. 1976-S Silver Half Dollar PCGS MS67 trends for around $20-$25 197-6 S Silver Ike Dollar PCGS MS67 trends for around $45-$50 So it looks like the set could be put together for less than $100.
Nice choice. I'm thinking these will be easy to find and you can be picky with your choices. Do you plan to do the silver ones as well?
I am going to do both the silver and the clad I want to make it as complete as possible I just don't want to collect every quarter or half although I might put together a set of Ikes too. I just plan for now to do one each of all the bicentennials clad and silver and upgrade some even higher if the opportunity presents itself. Is there a list of all the coins in this series, or should I just look at the population report and go from there? I would also like to know about varieties and errors if there are any once I get all the regular business and proof coins. Thanks for y'alls input. This will be the first set I've tried to put together as I seem to be eclectic in my coin hobby buying what appeals to me rather than having a goal. I'm eventually going to do a high grade Mint Mark set of Morgans but that isn't pressing it just sounds fun.
