You guys may be right, but what's the point? There is nothing being offered right now that's worth buying (in my opinion anyway.) It seems they do a good job in getting the boring stuff out early every year, but what about the interesting offerings? Let's see the baseball commemoratives and the fancy pucks! They haven't even been scheduled yet. Boo! Hiss!
I agree. What good is free shipping if the mint doesn't have much new out to appeal to buyers. The mint seems to take the first 4 months or so of the year off before deciding to let us know when the more desirable stuff comes out. (the baseball commem. and the pucks also. At least in my opinion also. ) I do usually get the silver quarters proof set. Usually wait till I'm getting other stuff to order though.
Well pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training this week. Maybe it is the baseball HOF commemoratives. Maybe they will tell us what is going on with the Kennedy set. Ok, I will stop dreaming...probably just free shipping. TC
I am not going to accuse the Mint of putting any thought behind what they do, but consider this. The Baseball commemorative coin of 2014 is technically the Baseball Hall of Fame commemorative coin. The Hall of Fame opened its doors on June 12, 1939, which would make this June the 75th anniversary of this event. It would seem, therefore, the Mint might release the coin in June of this year. Again, I am not accusing the Mint of being logical, but I'm just saying we might not see this coin for a couple of months yet. I know....I have too much time on my hands.
Not sure what it could be other than free shipping. Also how do they define a "loyal" customer"? Even if they release the Hall of Fame coin how is that a special promotion? Or if they release a Kennedy commemorative coin? Definitely will be keeping an eye out for the announcement!!
Wow!! This is one of the lamest promotions ever!! Whoever did the focus group on this should be fired or blacklisted!! I'm sure a "loyal customer" would be anyone who spends $75. Like most I was expecting free shipping but not this. Hey US Mint go back to the drawing board on your promotional ideas!!!
Still not sure why the US Mint won't sell bullion directly. They have the website and structure to support it. With the mark-up over spot on gold/silver they should be able to make a profit (although with the US government I am not so sure).
That's it, a shopping bag? Give me a break. Then again, I may look rather fetching with it when I go to Walmart.........
Or....people may begin fetching things from your house since they now know you probably collect precious metals.
Well they did sell 40 million silver eagles last year, maybe they can't handle that kind of volume. They are selling the eagles at $2 over spot to their distributors reportedly, if that is correct they are making 80 million before expenses, not bad.
Oh well, will this be the let down of the year or will the mint out do this one? Still plenty of time left for a greater disappointment. They can still disappoint most Kennedy collectors by issuing a gold Kennedy that they can't afford, leaving their collection incomplete. Or, they can issue coins for circulation that they previously sold only to collectors. Or, they can go with the CCAC AtB selections for 2015. Heck, the list goes on and on.
