1932-D / 3 Mark / Weimar Republic Conserved by NCS and graded as MS63... what makes it a REALLY expensive coin now: Unfortunately I didn't take pics before sending it to NGC/NCS but for sure it wasn't as shiny as it is now.
Another 20 Centavos for the collection. 1951, Key date in un-circulated state, Mintage 11.385,000 MS60 value $100, MS63 $120 MS is as high as I am able to grade Mexican coinage. I don't think this would would grade higher because of the ding at 10 o'clock. However I paid less than $40 so I am very happy. Saint Pierre & Miquelon is a very small country off the coast of Newfoundland. Population is less than 7000. A French Territory. 1948 2 Franc. One year only, mintage of 300,000, made of Aluminum. The obverse reminds me of our Mercury dime and the reverse of the Bluenose on the Canadian dime. A nice interesting addition to my World coin collection.
From time to time I like to add mint and proof sets from other countries. These are from a 1973 Liberia Proof Set. The set had a mintage of 10,542 which is high for Liberian proof sets. The coins were minted in the USA. The 1 cent through $1 have a mintage of 11K each, the $5 mintage of 28K. The cent is copper, the 5 cent through $1 are Copper-Nickel. The $5 is .900 Silver at 34.1g. Silver content is .9867. The coin is 42mm, making it the largest circulating coin minted in the USA. The 10 and 25 cent were the only coins put in circulation in 1973. All the others are proof only. Phots are not the best. The coins are sealed in a hard plastic which is not 100% clear. The coins themselves are spotless. An unrelated fact. My daughter collects Elephant coins, was born in 1973, and has a birthday coming up in a few months. Hmmm, maybe, maybe not!
Although I am not actively purchasing duplicates for my German Empire 1 Mark toned set, sometimes it;s hard to pass one up. Just got this beauty. here is the one in my set already.
Not new to me, in fact I think I've had it for 20 years, but first time (I think) taking a picture of it.
I have looking for these in MS for an odd year or two. The catalog values are not that high, but I have never seen better or any specimens of these particular years graded. Ironic, I wish one could get them for the prices listed in the Krause. KM 166 Chile 1923 10 centavos KM 167.4 Chile 1929 20 centavos (single year issue with designer’s name)
1885 Newfoundland Two Dollar gold (0.917; 0.0981 oz. AGW) mintage of 10,000; I've always like these coins & finally picked one up. I've always found the reverse interesting with the 'Two Hundred Cents, 2 Dollars, One Hundred Pence' Hard to get a decent shot of this one, my camera keeps picking up the scratches (on the holder!)
Wow Nice JJ !!! The $2.00 Gold coin Rev must have been a engravers nightmare having to do it twice 200 Pence /Penny
