But of course, Sixbid failed to automatically notify me of the lots existence, so here I am finding out a year later. The sad part is that I later (quite happily) purchased several coins from the group from a dealer for $30-$75 each. My bid would have blown him out of the water. ROME. 1st-3rd centuries AD. And if you refuse to buy at auction because the coins are "too expensive," then you're a fool.
Ugh. The same thing happened to me at Heritage a few months ago. Very nice group of provincials - I was certain they would hammer at a price way over my budget so I didn't bid. A week later, I was organizing my watch list and kicking myself. The lot sold for a quarter of what I was willing to bid. Argh!
