    A mintmark is in correct and normal area if it isn't as high and touching the date, west/south as long as doesn't touch Abe's coat, and east/south as long as it doesn't touch the rim. Since before single press die hubbing, it was punched into the die by hand , so a large amount of leniency was allowed.

    They were hand punched up until 1989(someone correct me if I got the date wrong!) so they can be in a variety of places/positions.
