I have a bunch of wheat cents (no key dates, no varieties, no steel, average circulated condition) that I would like to trade. If I were to go into a local coin shop how much should I expect to get in trade (store credit)? 3 cents a piece for all of them? 6 cents for 20's & 30's, 4 for 40's, 2 for 50's???

How much for pre 60's Jefferson nickels? 10 cents each? etc....

    TIA.

Two or three cents each on the Wheat cents and face value on the Jefferson nickels.

I generally pay 2.5 cents each for wheats that have been searched and Tom is right on the money, those pre 60 jefferson nickels arent worth much more than face value

Only thing to add to this thread is 1942-1945 war nickels are 35% silver. They have a mintmark at the 12 o'clock position on the reverse. The melt value on them at the moment is a little over $1.

Coin shop offered 2 cents per wheat cent and face value for the nickels. Actually a tad bit more...he rounded up to the nearest 50 cents! Oh boy...picked up a couple of coins to fill holes even though they were overpriced. Freed up some space and lightened up the storage box a bit!
