Need help...pleaseeeee. I've searched but can't find this 2013p shield in any of the listings. Close, but no prize. New variety? The most obvious doubling is on the date, although most other characters show split serifs, ect. Hope you can tell enough by the pics. Any and all input is appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks non cents and d.t. Okay. So...if it's not DD, what would cause the split serifs and valleys? I'm still learning, but thought that was one of the ways to ID a DD. At least the minor ones not lucky enough to be born 55's and can't always be seen with the naked eye. Educate me, gentlemen. Please.

In my opinion, I think that the split serifs in the photos are actually just a result of light reflection. You saying "my scope hates bright shield cents" also makes me think that light reflection is the culprit here. Doubled dies with split serifs as strong as you would see on your coin would also have significant extra thickness, which is not apparent in the photographs. What are you using to photograph the coin? Is it LED lighting?
Rick...I'm truly sorry if you felt I was trying to argue. Not at all my style. I'm simply trying to learn what to look for. And I do plan to send it in, if for no other reason than to satisfy my curiosity. The strong DD's are obvious, but for someone just learning, the not so obvious are somewhat harder to spot. Many opinions help. And isn't that what the forums are for? To ask, to learn, to share, ? Thanks for the input!
non cents -- thanks for the response, and no...I hate LED lights. I use an endoscope with reg. lighting. I can't say I'm very happy with it, though. The pics always seem almost sketchy. As for reflection, I make sure to turn the coin in many directions, zoom in and out, look at it from many angles, to make sure what I see and am photographing isn't just a reflection. Even with my loupe the shields are very bright. Just something I deal with. Thanks again!
