Hello, my fellow CoinTalkers! I know my writeup is a bit late, but better late than never, right? I had a ton of fun, despite the fact that I didn't see a single CoinTalker (aside from Charmy, of course!). Perhaps in Atlanta! Take a look, and enjoy! Amanda's Long Beach Write Up
hi Amanda. wow what a show. I dream of going to the Long Beach show some day in the far future. I am a small time collector. I am in the $1-300 dollar range per coin. that "coin porn" was incredible. wow you must be rich to have/own those high priced coins ? I like that you call it "coin porn". so funny.. but true. get a rag out because I was drooling on those coin pics. lol I have a question for you ? are you a collector or just a dealer ? you and Charmy are the best looking girl/woman coin collectors I have ever seen. I hope that did NOT sound weird or sexist. I wish there were many more girl/woman coin collectors. my girlfriend Jenny collects U.S. and world paper money/currency. I always drool on Charmy's penny photos. her collection is the ultimate. yours has so much variety. I always look forward to yours and Charmy's coin show write ups. keep them coming. thanks for sharing. 1 last question which is your favorite coin in your collection ?
Awh, thanks spirityoda!! Don't for a second think that the coins in the "coin porn" section are mine, they belong to the shop! I don't do a whole lot of collecting myself, that's a can of worms I just don't want to open! I probably wouldn't be able to stop if I started! So I'm just a dealer, really. Charmy always has the absolute best in copper -- that's why she's THE Penny Lady! If you can ever make it, the show is amazing ... and this was their 50th anniversary show, which is probably one of the reasons it was so busy! Make a trip to one of these shows happen, it's sooo worth it! Sent from my iPad Junior Numismatist, Alhambra Coin Center www.lifeatthecoinshop.com www.facebook.com/lifeatthecoinshop
my coin dealer Troy here in St. George, Utah always goes to that long beach show. he just sold his bust half collection for $600,000.00! it was the most impressive collection ever to see. after I get most of my high debt paid off I will make it out to long beach. my main interest in coins is world coins. topical/themed collections. "coins with insects" being my personal favorite. then certain "coins with stars", certain "coins with hands", a large MISC world coin collection. U.S. type coins. small rainbow toned coin collection.
I'll have to take a picture tomorrow ... we have a Canadian coin with a 3d bee on it! How's that for a coin with an insect? Sent from my iPad Junior Numismatist, Alhambra Coin Center www.lifeatthecoinshop.com www.facebook.com/lifeatthecoinshop
^ That coin, in fact! Sent from my iPad Junior Numismatist, Alhambra Coin Center www.lifeatthecoinshop.com www.facebook.com/lifeatthecoinshop
I have seen this coin before but,.... I usually do not buy coins that have added glass or have colorized stickers on them. to me they just do NOT look like actual coins that have had the image/design stamped into the coin. I have made 1 exception to this rule with a Congo coin made from lucite see thru plastic with a butterfly on it. who knows maybe way down the road I might get it later, but for now ... no. I have seen this coin on Ebay and the premiums on this coin are way to high for what it is. thanks for showing it to me always.
That is a TON of GSAs! You probably shouldn't have mentioned the "wildlife commentator" incident, now I'll have it stuck in my head for years, and when I see you... Another great write up, thanks a bunch.
opps guess what ? I was just looking at my "coins with insects" and found 1 coin from Somalia that has a blue enamel on a scarab beetle and 2 Canadaian coins 1 with a colorized butterfly sticker and 1 with a hologram butterfly. my local coin dealer sold these canadian coins to me for half their price/value a couple years ago. now the prices on the colorized stickered coins rom canada have doubled in price. not sure why either. ? I saw a 2014 colorized spider canada coin that I thought was pretty cool recently but I can not justify paying the $70-75 they are asking for it. I would feel better paying $35-40 at the most for it.
"Migratory patterns of the North American redhead..." you have to admit, that is creative. I should try that line on my wife sometime... (My wife has red hair, and the temper to match!) Someday, I will get a chance to attend a big US show, and I will bring along my Canadian 1-cent exonumia collection to show Charmy... Meanwhile, up here in the Great White North, I get to do more shovelling today...
