Changing the current coins

While the coins changed, they remained of the same theme. We really need more fundemental change with new coin designs which are not related to the current ones. I disagree with Speedy, the current designs are aweful.

For a Nickel I would like to see:
The Twin Towers in steal silver on the front and the American Oak Tree on the reverse

The twin towers on a coin reminds me of that one they've been advertising on TV for a while, you know, the one where the towers lay flat on the coin then you can stand them up for that 3D effect. That theme would be fine for a comemmorative for New York City but I dont think it would work on national coinage. I think it would be nice to bring Liberty back to the obverse of some of our coins, like maybe just the quarter and half or even the cent and dime for that matter. I think some of our current coin designs are just plain drab, Lincoln and the memorial can go, the Roosevelt obverse can go and Kennedy can hit the road. I love the Franklin Half and wish it was still in use.

 

I think the towers were a great symbol of the nation as a whole, and clearly the world viewed it this way, hence they were attacked twice. With a strong Oak to represent our unitity and strength as a nation, I think together they'd made a great coin representivite of all our united states.

Israel did a gold and silver rendition of Einstein. I thought they came out pretty well. I belive it was like 550 in .999 1/2oz , .9250 silver 28.80GR. 38.70MM 2800 mintage.

When I was a kid the coins all looked really great. We had Standing Liberty Quarters, Walking Liberty Halves, Nickels with Indians and Buffalos both on them. Many of the older coins in change also had Indians, Liberty Heads and even a really neat Dime with what looked like Mercury. Then someone thought we would all like a bunch of presidents on them ane even thier houses. Sure wish we could just go back to the old coins again.

 

oak tree on reverse already got a bunch of those quarters in my change jar. we need something else.. I think we need to get ben franklin back on a coin

that would never work IMHO---because not many people agree on who is a good looking gal---like coins I'm really picky on girls---it might tell you something when I say that I've never had a girl-friend and don't plan on getting one any time soon

Poor speedy. i feel bad for you byt only if you do now how about a $100 coin made of silver for regular use that would be fun
