Nice start to the collection! The obverse of your coin doesn't look as good as the reverse to me, but I think its just the picture.

Nice Walker, Id have to agree with Treashunt and say XF-AU, but it would take some up close pictures to tell for sure. Walkers make a beautiful set, they're one of the most attractive coins in the US 20th century series. Id love to start a set of those soon.

As close as I can get

This is about the best scan I can get. I hope this helps. It looks like a good a.u. from the red books description. But hey, they don"t call me newbie for nuttin'!

I can get alot better pic by cranking up the dpi but the100k limit here on pics won"t let me. If an experienced numismatist(is that a real word?) would let me email them a pic so they could grade it I sure woulsd appreciate it. I am trying to get a good grading eye and was thinking this was an au. If it isn't I would like to know why so I don't pay more than it is worth. But even if I did, I still like my new coin!

Well jesters, I'm not an expert, so don't e-mail the pics to me. But, as a fellow collector of Walkers, I'll tell you, it is a series that takes alot of practice and experience to grade well and consistantly.

Click on the "Gallery" button at the top of the page, and upload your picture. Then right click on the uploaded picture, and click "Copy Image Location". Finally, click on the little yellow picture at the top of a reply box and paste the location. There is no size limit for the Gallery, and that will put the Gallery picture into your posting.

The photos are large enough IMHO----and I would grade it XF45-AU50.....it is border AU (The Red Book isn't a good guide to use for grading...pick up Photograde and the ANA Grading Guide)

I agree with the consensus...it looks like a high end XF, borderline AU.

That is a beautiful series to start coin collecting with.

I guess my eyes arent what they used to be. It usually takes a larger photo for me to determine grades with any accuracy unless I have the coin in my hand with a 20X Loupe..:D

    Nice coin.
    Your first?
I'd say it's worth a great deal, if you're serious about making this your hobby.

    I'd say it's about XF40, value $8 - $10.

I'll agree with XF-45 maybe AU-50. I'm working on a set of Walking Libertys in a new dansco album. Mostly need all the early ones before 1933. Recently purchased a 1918S for $60 that grades about the same XF-AU.

I haven't done any serious grading in a long time, but I'll comment anyway and say I agree with GDJMSP. The amount of wear on the eagle's breast drops the coin out of the AU category into XF.
